Chatham Created Yellow Sapphires
Lab grown yellow sapphires
Chatham created yellow sapphires are just as beautiful as some of the worlds most valuable mined sapphires. Yellow sapphires are doubly refractive and often exhibit pleochroism…the visible display of different body colors from different crystal directions in a gem. Typically, Chatham created yellow sapphires show orange, green and yellow pleochroic colors. We stock Chatham yellow sapphires in medium tone, but some light and dark tones may be available. Medium tone is considered top color. The medium tone yellow sapphires have a gorgeous yellow body color with slight orangish undertones. They also have nice light return. Light Chatham created yellow sapphires have more brilliance. But they are lighter in tone with greenish undertones. Dark Chatham sapphires have deep yellow body color. They have more orange and less light return.
Chatham lab grown yellow sapphires are not cheap flame fusion sapphires. They grow in the natural crystal habit in a controlled environment. Because they are carefully grown, you can expect your Chatham created yellow sapphire to have gorgeous color and consistent quality. All Chatham sapphires are gem quality with no inclusions visible to the naked eye.

Our Work In Madagascar
Changing lives for children and their families
We get our hands dirty!
In 2014 Michelle went to Madagascar to learn about the geology and mineralogy of the country. She was excited to visit some of the mining localities she learned about in her studies to be a Graduate Gemologist. However, it wasn't the sparkly colorful gems that caught her eye. Rather, it was the children...the little gems of Madagascar. Michelle founded www.GemsOfMadagascar.org in 2015. She visits Madagascar for about two months each year doing humanitarian projects, including clean water, sanitation, education and hygiene.
